ATL Winter Hitting Program

  • We will use the big cluster of cages between Wilkins Field, and the softball fields. Located in the middle of NYO's campus.
  • Hitting will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Group 1 5:30-6:30 and Group 2 6:30-7:30. Please arrive 10 min early to warmup.
  • Groups are separated by age, while keeping siblings in the same time slot.  Players will rotate to different cages/stations. Please contact me directly if there is an issue with your group time. We will do our best to accommodate requests.
  • Players MUST wear turfs or flat bottom athletic shoes. NO metal or molded cleats.
  • Players MUST bring helmets and wear them when hitting off machine or coach.
  • Players should bring own bat (metal or wood).
  • ATL/NYO COVID protocols remain in place. Please bring masks, and we will remind the kids to socially distance while waiting to hit. Players/coaches that have any symptoms should stay home.
  • You will receive an email from Rapsodo Baseball. Please follow the link and create a player profile. This profile will be used to track swings taken on the Rapsodo unit and to send hitting reports generated. I can resend the email if you did not receive it. It went to the email address that was used to register.
  • In the event of inclement weather I will use email to communicate any changes.
  • We are planning on 15 total sessions, ending on January 7th. NO hitting on November 26th, December 24th and December 31st.

2020-21 ATL Winter Hitting Program

The Winter hitting program is designed to develop the overall hitter and will focus on developing the complete hitter. The program will focus on 3 main components: bat speed, barrel control and swing decisions. ATL has designed a 2-day a week program that spans 8-weeks from November to middle/high school tryouts in January. The program will include the Rapsodo hitting technology that measures exit velocity, launch angles, spin direction, ball flight and more. Each player will get a weekly detailed report derived from Rapsodo. The reports will guide the training and act as a measuring tool for progress.

Players in the program will work with under load and overload constraints, weighted balls, velocity training, visual training, and strike zone training through specific drills intended to challenge hitter movements and teach the high level components of the swing.

The program is conducted by ATL coaches.
