COVID-19 Protocols

 

General Guidelines

1.      As best possible, social distancing should always be practiced.

2.      No player/coach/spectator should come to baseball activities if they are displaying any symptoms of, waiting test results or currently test positive for, COVID- 19.

3.      Fans and spectators to be limited to immediately family only; no spectators over the age of 65

4.      Children under the age of 18 must be under the direct supervision of their parents; kids (not participating in a practice) are not allowed to roam the park or engage in playtime activities.

5.      Teams should stay in cars in parking lot until 10 minutes prior to practice time

6.      No shared equipment excluding baseballs/softballs.

7.      No shared water coolers or drinks of any kind.

8.      No shared food/team snacks.

9.      No sunflower seeds.

10.  No spitting.

11.  No chewing gum.

12.  It is recommended coaches and spectators wear masks.

13.  Players may wear masks if they prefer, so long as it does not put them at risk of injury.

14.  All equipment (baseball/softball buckets, tees, etc.) should be sanitized (Lysol/Chlorox) at the conclusion of each practice/game.

15.  Teams must exit field and cages within 5 minutes of end time and immediately proceed to parking lot

16.  No socializing/gathering of any kind at baseball/softball facilities allowed outside of designated team practice schedule. This includes pavilions, common areas and bleachers.

17.  Teams, players, and families must take home any trash and all other items they bring with them (avoid using trash cans if possible)

18.  We are encouraging families to not stay for practice or skill sessions. If you do stay please stay in your car.

19.  No ‘tailgating’ before, during or after events.

20.  Team meetings must be on the field (off the infields which are grass) with social distancing

21.  Coaches should plan practices with all Covid19 protocols in mind and socially distance players as much as possible.

22.  Hand Sanitizer will be available if needed.

 

Batting Cage and Bullpen Guidelines

1.      Social distancing should always be observed as much as possible.

2.      Avoid any logjams or crowding around cages.

3.      Players waiting their turn should wait 6 feet apart.

Field Guidelines

1.      Players and coaches will not be allowed in dugouts (other than walking through dugouts to access a field).

2.      Players at practices and skill sessions will be placed in groups and spread across the field. Try to maintain social distancing as best as possible.

3.      Place bags/equipment at least 6 feet apart. Best to have half of the team place along 1st base line inside the fence, the other half along 3rd base line inside the fence.

4.      No catchers during batting practice on fields - use screens only

5.      Catchers must use their own equipment

6.      Bullpens and batting cages may only be used during a team’s scheduled time.

7.      No scrimmages allowed with other teams

8.      The normal procedures apply with respect to inclement weather or the lightning.

9.      If NYO maintenance crews need to do some work on your field, be absolutely certain to move coaches and players around the field to accommodate.

 

Positive Test Procedure

In the event a player or coach or a family member of a player or coach tests positive or is waiting on a test result for COVID-19, they should contact Dan Giordano for further instructions ([email protected]). In no circumstance should a player go to a skill session, practice or game if they showing any symptoms, waiting a test result or has tested positive.

 

Use of Restrooms

1.      At NYO, arrows mark the sidewalk with the appropriate “waiting spots” that are 6 feet apart.

2.      Facemasks recommended for all individuals entering the restroom.
